Initiated in 1992, Energy Star is the name of a U.S. government program to promote energy savings and reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
It was first created as a United States government program in 1992, but Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan and the European Union have also adopted the program.
Energy Star is an international standard for energy efficient consumer products which respect the environmental standards.
